Precious Kayili

Product engineer · Lagos, Nigeria

I build whole products, from the database to the last pixel, and I teach people to do the same. I'm the founding engineer at ALE Brands, where I lead engineering on Becky, GrowALE and the tools behind them.

I took Becky from 800 to nearly 3,000 users, built GrowALE from the first commit, and Reserv, a booking product I built, was acquired by ALE Brands. On the side I build things like Kept, a finance operating system for small businesses, and Grasp, an OS for bootcamps.

I've been on computers since I was four, making music and designs and breaking things, and writing code since eleven. Since 2020 I've volunteered to teach 200+ young people to code, and helped some of them land their first tech jobs.

Teaching

200+ young people taught to code, many of them from their very first line.

Someone took a chance on me at Kids Code Club Africa in 2019, so I give that time back. By 2020 I was volunteering as a class assistant, and not long after I was teaching. Most of it has been unpaid, charity work with KCCA, Blue Algorithm and Alpha Blue Foundation, helping kids and young adults get into tech. Some of them are now working as developers.
